Baseball, by the Rules

Gavin Williams (of the Cleveland Guardians) checks on one of the two Toronto Blue Jays runners on base before pitching to Daulton Varsho.
The Inning Continues
When there’s at least one runner on base, a play is made, and when the dust settles, there are still runners on base, then the space between plate appearances proceeds much as it did before. The defense will make positioning adjustments, taking into account who is coming up to the plate (and where they’re likely to hit the ball), the number of outs, and where any runners are currently starting from1.
